The official repository is github.com/JPTER78/pokesurvivor, owned by the game author. It is vanilla HTML, CSS and JavaScript on Canvas 2D with no build step or dependencies. To run it locally, download the repository and double-click index.html. Code is under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 since 14 October 2026; sprites are CC BY-NC 4.0. A fork is not the official account or live game.

The official repository
The official project is github.com/JPTER78/pokesurvivor. The author is Jonathan Piera Torregrosa (JPTER78). The repository is the source of the browser game, not a separate account service.
Other repositories with similar names are different projects. A “PokeSurvivor” fork can change files, remove features or point at a different database. Check the owner before treating a repository as official.
What is inside
| Part | Contents |
|---|---|
| Root | index.html, CSS, assets and JavaScript folders. |
| assets/pokemon/{dex}/ | PMD sprite sheets and shiny variants. |
| assets/fonts/ | Pixelify Sans and its license. |
| js/data/ | Pokédex, moves, starters, items, missions, enemies, upgrades and music data. |
| js/core/ | Input, save, audio, sprites, camera and settings. |
| js/net/ | Friends, rooms, co-op networking and ranking. |
| js/systems/ | Combat, level-up, gacha, rifts, weather, interaction and Judgment. |
| js/world/ | Terrain, chunks, objects and collisions. |
The project is designed to run from local files. Data is stored in .js files because fetch is blocked on file://. That is why the offline package does not need a server.
Run it locally
- Download or clone the repository.
- Keep the folder structure intact.
- Double-click index.html.
- Use a current browser; no build or package install is required.
Local mode uses localStorage and does not initialize the official cloud database. The approved-host list includes localhost and 127.0.0.1, but a file:// open is a local save. Do not expect official cloud saves, leaderboards or friends in a local copy. The save guide explains the modes.
License and credits
The code is under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 from 14 October 2026. It can be used, studied and modified, but not sold or used for commercial purposes. Versions up to commit b297089 were published under MIT; an old fork may still carry MIT.
Sprites are from PMD SpriteCollab under CC BY-NC 4.0, with attribution in CREDITS.md. Pixelify Sans is under the SIL Open Font License. Pokémon names and characters belong to their respective owners. The repository is a fan project, not an official Pokémon product.
Issues and contributions
Bugs and feature requests are tracked in GitHub Issues. Include the browser, OS, device, game version, exact action and whether the game is hosted or local. Do not include a password or account token.
A fork can accept its own issues, but that does not make it the official project. If a fix is not in the author’s repository, it is not part of the official build.
Official vs forks vs hosted copies
| Thing | What it is | Account authority |
|---|---|---|
| github.com/JPTER78/pokesurvivor | Official source repository | No; source only |
| pokesurvivor.com | Official hosted game | Yes, official cloud |
| Author’s itch.io ZIP | Offline solo package | No; browser local |
| A fork | Modified source | Its own, if configured |
| A copy site | Republished build | Separate database |
The repository’s presence does not authorize a third party to host an account service or sell access. The official game is free. The download guide covers the offline route; the comparison guide separates this project from Burst.
